A Super Early Update

I know its a little early for an update, but one is needed i believe.

So last Friday James went to the dentist for what was supposed to be a few fillings, but ended up getting yet another tooth pulled. when the Dr pulled it he broke (fractured) part of James jaw. so he's been in some pretty good pain the last few days.

Yesterday (Monday) I made a solo trip to Denver to see a special gastric surgeon. After a long but, uneventful trip down and the telling of my tale the Dr. told me a few things. 1. he wants to do one maybe two surgeries on me (I'll get into that in a bit) 2. if the second operation has to happen (which is the gastric pace-maker) if James and i want to have another baby in a few years all they have to do is shut it off and then turn it back on after baby 3. he thinks the majority of my problems are caused (obviously by a slow stomach) but also from a ton of reflux.

So the surgeries: the first one is scheduled for June 9th. I will spare you the long hard to say name if the surgery, but i can tell you what they are going to do. After some tests here to determine how it should be done, they will make 5 to 7 small incisions in my stomach inflate it full of C02 and do this laproscopically IE. with a camera. Then they will take the upper part of my stomach and wrap it around the lower part of my esophagus. This will effectively make it so that food and air can go down but never back up thus fixing the reflux. While they are in there they may decide to do a pyloric widening...which just means they may widen the opening from the bottom of my stomach to my upper intestine to allow food to pass easier.

The second maybe surgery is the pace-maker. Its a small pocket watch device inserted in the fatty tissue in your abdomen, it has 2 wires that are attached to the lower part of your stomach. The device is turned on by your Dr. and it send small frequent shocks to your stomach. this is mostly to offset the nausea, but in some patients it has also helped their motility (how fast food is passed)! We will only do this one if the first one doesn't take care of all the problems.

The best part is that both of these is that in a small percentage of patients they have help to speed up digestion rates. So its possible that it could do that for me too!!

Well on the journey home my car started acting funny outside of Cheyenne, and then completely gave up in Wheatland, James had to come get me and the car at 10pm last night we didn't make it home till 2 this morning. we are both really tired.

I will give an update on Daisy's ears on Wednesday when i know more.
